European Commission wants to reform Common Agricultural Policy

The European Commission wants to concentrate on the area of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and realize some reforms which should lead to a removal of redundant bureaucracy. Generally the CAP should be more efficient and the regulations more transparent also for farmers themselves.

The Czech Republic belongs to the best in Europe in covers recycling

Increase of recycling of plastic covers to 27 % till 2012 – it is one of aims of Euro-novel of the law on covers which the Chamber of Deputies negotiates at present [1]. According to preliminary results from 2004 the Czech Republic belongs in recycling of plastic packaging material together with Germany among the most successful states of the European Union. According to the newest data, the recycling of p lastic packaging waste reached 38 % in 2003 and last year it increased to 44 %.

Wood-Tec: Reserves of wood in the CR still grow in spite of record cut

Reserves of wood in Czech forests still grow, in spite of the last year record cut 15,6 million cubic meters. Overwhelming majority of the raw material originated from needle forests, only about a tenth from leafy ones. A total yearly accretion is about 18 million cubic meters yearly. “A state of forests in the country is by far not such as it is often unprofessionally presented”, said Šárka Robešová from a press centre at the fair Wood-Tec. According to specialists the CR is on the fourth place in Europe with reserves of almost 246 cubic meters of wood per one hectare, and on the sixth place in a yearly accretion.

Bavaria forbad completely an outside breeding of poultry because of bird flu

A complete ban of outside breeding of poultry is valid from today in Bavaria. It is the first Germany federal country which so radically reacted to an appearance of bird flu in the European Union. Breeders have to close all domestic and commercial edible poultry as hens, ducks, gooses, turkeys and turkey-hens, and guinea hens in buildings. This duty should prevent an accidental contamination by a contact with eventually infected migratory birds from risk areas.
