President Klaus will nominate Mládek to a post of Minister of Agriculture on Wednesday

The President Václav Klaus will nominate Jan Mládek to a post of a new Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday, 16th November. A proposal for his nomination he obtained from the Prime Minister Jiří Paroubek today. The ČTK was said it by the president´s spokesman Petr Hájek. An exact time of the action will be announced by the president office later. The representatives and economic expert of the ČSSD Jan Mládek will replace in the function the present Minister Petr Zgarba who resigned due to an affair with lots in the Land Fund.

EC: We will not surrender in agricultural trade

The European Commission claims that it can not recede farther in agricultural trade. The European Commission asserts that its recent proposals to decrease import customs duty for agricultural products and gradually completely cancel agricultural export subsidies, are the most terminal offer which it cannot exceed in negotiations about world trade liberalizations. On the contrary, its main competitors on the world market judge that the Commission still has a margin of manoeuvre and if it does not use it, it will bear the responsibility for a collapse of the ministerial session of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in a half of December in Hongkong.

We have condition for biomass, however, not market

The South-Bohemian region has good conditions for use of biomass. There are enough areas for growing of energy plants or so called fast-growing evergreen tree species. Utilization of biomass is, however, inhibited by a little functioning market with this raw material and a weak support of the state. “One of the main causes of dislike to start with biomass is also an uncertainty from a future. Whether, how long, and in what amount the subsidies and security of sale will be”, said Michal Rozkopal, a compiler of the project Support of creation of biomass market.

Dairy works Kunín increased significantly operation

Products for more than 144 million crowns have been already this year exported by the Dairy works Kunín. In comparison with the same period last year the firm increased export of its complete production by more than 70 percents. “At the beginning of 2004 exports of butter and dried milk still run out. These commodities are no more exported today”, reported the general director of the Dairy works Kunín Zbyněk Gebauer. So, supplies of milk rice, semolina, yoghurts and other long-lived products wander from Ostrava-Martinov to abroad. A turnover of the food-processing plant exceeded in the third quarter 1,43 mld crowns in comparison with last year´s 1,35 mld. crowns. Above all the export activities of dairy works shares in the annual growth of takings.
