Three novices sit in Land Fund

The presidency of Land Fund appointed three new members of a fund executive committee at its today´s meeting. The second vice-chairmen of the body is Jaroslav Vigner, other new members who will manage executive section are Richard Chvojka and Zdeněk Fišer. The Ministry of Agriculture imparted it to the ČTK. The committee, from which a half of ten members has been withdrawned due to the affair with land transfers to speculators, after that completion is again quorate and it can make decisions.

Switzerland forbade genetic foods

Swiss approved in a referendum one of the strictest bans of use of genetically modified organisms in Europe. Almost 56 % voting, i.e. 1 125 357 people, voted for five-year moratorium, whereas 42 % voters came to the referendum. Changes of law approved in the electoral vote are in force from the 27th November, the day of referendum, and neither new law nor regulation is need. By means of approval of a so called Gentechfrei initiative Swiss decided that they will introduce one of the strictest limitation of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in Europe. The will forbid export of genetically changed plants, their parts and seed and their use in agriculture and forestry. The same limitation is valid also for animals. However, the ban does not apply to a research.

Šumava gained a prize for Rhodos

A connection of business, art and nature, that way a harmonizing can be name in brief during ceremonious giving of prizes Rhodos for an image in Michna´s palace in Prague on Thursday evening. Various Czech firms which have a significant image participated in the competition. Šumava appeared in a competition of well-known firms. This year for the first time a prize was bestowed in a category Mountains which brought a new spirit in the competition of economic organizations. “Among eleven categories in which the competition run his year, mountains can seem to be quite unfitting for the first sight”, said an executive director for marketing and strategic development of the firm Mediatel Luboš Čipera.

Jan Mládek: I will change a system, affairs will stay for police

A turmoil about a secret sale of a state share in the firm Setuza, an affair with lucrative lots from the Land Fund. That are only the biggest problems which the new Minister of Agriculture Jan Mládek inherited from his predecessors. For the first time after the November 1989 “non-farmer”, in this case macro-economist came at the head of the resort. “I have no linkage to entrepreneurial groups. I suppose that the Premiers chose me just for it”, Mládek says in the first interview after his accession in the function.
