In the 4th week price of meat and some fruit and vegetable rose

In the fourth week businessmen raised prices of meat and some kinds of fruit. The Czech Statistic Office found out it in its regular investigation. Prices of meat and smoked products rose by more than one crown; oranges, paprika and tomatoes rose in price significantly. The price of beef meat (rump steak) rose by 1,05 crown to 162,64 crowns per a kilogram; pork rose in price by 1,22 crowns to 105,73 per kilogram. A price of ham salami rose by 1,03 crowns to 116,11 per kilogram.

SVS: Healthy animals do not mind frost

Although wild animals suffer from winter frosts, especially, if there is a lot of snow, healthy animals are able to get over difficult living conditions. Josef Duben, a spokesman of the State Veterinary Administration CR (SVS) stated it.

Knowledge of mark KLASA increases

A campaign to support the national mark of quality KLASA is successful. From a research which was realized in December by the agency STEM/MARK it resulted that more than two thirds of consumers know the mark KLASA which became the most widely known mark for quality food products in the CR. According to Vilém Frček from the press department of the marketing division of the State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SZFI), the aim of research was a comparison of parameters of knowledge and image of the mark KLASA before the beginning of campaign in June 2006 and during the campaign at the end of last year. The survey investigated not only the knowledge of mark KLASA but also their perception among consumers and the impact on purchase behaviour.

Demonstration of South-Moravian wine growers is apparently averted

After today’s negotiation of an advisory group for issue of viticulture and wine growing with the Minister of Agriculture Jan Mládek a demonstration of wine-growers planned in Prague at the end of January is apparently averted. The strike was called by the Agrarian Chamber in Břeclav due to reputedly threatening collapse of domestic wine-growers, reported the chief of group Miloš Michlovský.
