Growers of sugar beet are afraid of losing a part of EU compensation

The sugar-beet growers in Olomouc region are afraid of losing a part of the European Union compensations for losses of their incomes. According to them there is a threat that the Ministry of Agriculture will divide this money not only among sugar-beet growers, but among all farmers in the country. That would reputedly mean a crisis in sugar-beet growing and sugar production. However, according to the Ministry the growers are expressing their opinions about something which has not been decided. The regional agrarian chamber in Olomouc and some growers from Moravian-Silesian region are going to send the dissentient opinion to the government. “The Ministry of agriculture does not want to provide the financial means to sugar-beet growers but is going to distribute the EU grant among all farmers in the republic. We understand it as a misuse of this money in a pre-elect agitation of ČSSD to gain votes of farmers who would get by distribution of the grant per every hectare of cultivated land a subsidy in height of unbelievable several thousands crowns”. It stands in a declaration of the regional agrarian chamber.

Supervisory board of ČKA has decided on transfer of claim of Setuza in PGRLF

The supervisory board of ČKA decided on a transfer of a claim of Setuza in a nominal value 4,1 milliard crowns in PGRLF yesterday afternoon. Vladimír Tlustý and Vladimír Doležal did no longer participate in the negotiation of the supervisory board. This information to the daily EURO OnLine was proved by a very well informed source. The group PPF had already offered 570 million crowns for the claim. Also Austrian investment company HMH is interested in it. However, Setuza refuses to recognize this claim now.

About marking of foods

Nutritional data on packages of foods tell how much energy, fat, sugar, proteins and sometimes also fibre, cholesterol, sodium, vitamins and mineral elements is contained in a common portion. A total amount of calories and nutrients depends on a size of a portion because data are usually showed in 100 gram of a food. The nutritional data of hamburger should so seem quite acceptable but big hamburgers can have even 250 grams, so twice and half times more of showed values. On the contrary, if the product has less than 100 grams, sometimes values of one portion or a package are showed.

Ambrozek: More money should go for cycle paths

A support from the State Fund of Transport Infrastructure (SFDJ) to municipalities and regions for building of cycle paths should be, according to the Minister of Environment Libor Ambrozek, significantly higher than till this time. The minister wrote it in a letter [1] which he sent to his government colleague, the Minister of Transport Milan Šimonovský, yesterday.
