Mládek wants to put through reduction of poultry import in two to four weeks

The CR should put through in the European Commission in two to four weeks a reduction of dumping imports of poultry meat from the EU countries where fears from bird flu burst out. Thanks to it the current production of poultry meat should keep in the CR and breeders and processors should not fall in losses. Within today’s excursion in the large-scale breeding of chickens and eggs manufactory Druko Střížov journalists were told it by the Minister of Agriculture, Jan Mládek.

Klasa was awarded to other 80 Czech food products

A list of products with the mark Klasa contains 1109 products from 166 inland producers on the date April 1, 2006. The most newly honoured products fall in a category meat and meat products (28). 19 products succeed in a category mill-, bakery- and confectionary products. A relatively strong representation show also non-alcoholic beverages (14). There is 11 new products in a category milk and milk products and 8 in a category “others” where e.g. honey and mustard belong to.

Easter revives interest in mutton which Czech people do not eat much in year

Interest in mutton meat, which breeders at this period supply to enlarged range of consumers, revives. Restaurants and hotels purchase it for Easter menu and also some butchers, mainly in Prague, enlarge their supply by it.

Czech poultry is competitive

Maybe it is completely waste of time asserting what our consumers knew well. Just in connection with bird flu which appeared in the Czech Republic area it is useful to point out that Czech poultry meat and poultry products are not only internationally competitive but are also health-unobjectionable. It can be certainly confirmed also by organs of the state veterinary control.
