President vetoed law on expropriation
The President Václav Klaus returned a law on forfeiture or limitation of ownership right to a land or a building (the law on expropriation) to the Parliament on Wednesday. As a main reason he brought out that the norm is a lump expropriation law without specification of public interest and formulations in it are exploitable. A head of press department of Castle Petr Hájek informed about Klaus’s veto.
Losses of processors of poultry from imports amount hundreds of millions crowns
Food-processing Chamber CR (PK) demands compensations of damages caused to domestic processors of poultry and producers in basic industry by excessive imports of poultry meat and its products in the CR in consequence of bird flu in the EU countries. It resulted from negotiation of representatives of domestic poultry processors, the president of PK Jaroslav Camplík, the president of Agrarian Chamber CR (AK) Jan Veleba, the Minister of Agriculture CR Jan Mládek and the state secretary Miroslav Toman on Tuesday, April 11.
Internet conquer Czech countryside
Němčovice with only one hundred and twenty residents has the fourth best web pages in the country. The countryside quickly increases its computer literacy and non-professional creators of municipal pages started in quality to get ahead of people from municipal halls of big towns. The era of many printed municipal bulletins and town newspapers is likely to end. At least they have a strong competitor. What more? – Last week announced results of a competition Gold heraldry “for the best web pages and electronic services of towns and municipalities” show that the internet becomes a part of village culture.
Winter of century fell on the Czech Republic
The longest winter “of century” reigns in the Czech Republic. From the statistics of hydrometeorological institute, which it administrates since 1926, it results that a record from 1970 with 123 days of a continuous snow cover in 600 meters above see-level has ruled till this time. However, already today Czech people have lived whole 148 days under snow. This year’s winter started on the 15th November 2005, when the first snow fell in the mountains. According to meteorologists the coherent snow cover will be in mountain areas also at Eastern and very likely also in May. In Šumava, Orlické mountains and Jeseníky, where people still ski, other twenty centimeters of snow have fell on Tuesday. Similar situation is in Krkonoše.
