Capitalistic beetle prepares new attack

As much as one hundred percent of corn growths can be destroyed by a pest Western Corn ( Diabrotica virgifera virgifera Le Conte) which is relative to famous Colorado potato beetle. In the second half of last century it became a tool of communistic ideology accusing “bad American capitalists” of targeted damaging of socialistic agriculture. A recently published leaflet by the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Phytosanitary Administration informed about its spreading. According to Jaroslav Drobník, emeritus professor of Science Faculty of Charles University, this pest has appeared also in the Czech Republic, in South Moravia.

Germans started to carry away waste from Libčeves in incinerator on their territory

Three German camions started to carry illegal waste from a former cow house in Libčeves in Louny region in an incinerator in Saxon today afternoon. German federal state Saxon-Anhalt has bound to liquidate 750 tons from about original 4000 tons in a municipality brought waste. The rest has already been carried by the firm Celio in its secured store near Litvínov in Most region.

Bio-oil is in upswing – when prices of oil rape will follow it?

Also farmers should profit from a boom of renewable kinds of raw materials because finally a raw material for a new energy grows on their fields. It is true especially since price-favourable supply of fossil fuels, as oil and natural gas, are not matter-of-course neither in the Czech Republic. However, just in case of the most important renewable raw-material, oil rape, rather an opposite happens. While rape oil and rape methyl ester (RME) reach record prices and producers earn fat profits, in case of rape one can not speak about “a gold intoxication” till now. Instead of it a price scissors between the raw material “rape” and the final product “bio-oil” gape still more and more.

Extraordinary measures due to bird flu ends

To date extraordinary measures around Týn nad Vltavou and Mirochov in Jindřichův Hradec region are being canceled. Last week the above mentioned orders already were reduced in all five areas with occurrence of swans which had died of the virus H5N1. People in protection zones can again let out poultry from family breeding in outdoor run, go out with dogs without a lead, and poultry farms can transport fattened broiler or chickens to slaughter. If this week positive died bird are not be found, extraordinary measures will be cancelled on the 9th May in localities around Hluboká nad Vltavou, České Budějovice and Orlík.
