Veterinarians call attention to duty to mark lambs

Since July, 9, 2005 also small breeders who have one sheep or one goat have to mark and register that animal. The spokesman of State Veterinary Association CR (SVS) Josef Duben, called attention to it in connection with the fact that just in spring, just now, the young of these animals are born. The mentioned duty results from a regulation of the Council and Parliament No. 21/2004/ES and came in force already last year. The marking consists in that in seven days after birth lamb or kid has to be marked by ear mark and the number has to be registered in a Central register.

Competition for the best photography with agricultural subject matter

The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) advertised an international competition for the best published photography with agricultural subject matter also for this year. This year the competition is sponsored by the company Delaval, one of the biggest world producers of milking technology. A winner of the competition will be enunciated in frame of the World congress of agricultural journalists which takes place on the 12th-16th August, 2006 in Hamar, Norwey. The first place will be evaluated by a sum of 500 Euro and crystal trophy, the second place by a crystal trophy. The winner does not have to receive a prize personally.

Wine duel: Domestic did not succumbed to foreign

Two years after the CR accession in the Union it is obvious that Czech people like wine much. Each of us drinks up as much as seventeen liters yearly. Wine consumption grows every year. In last fifteen years it has increased from ten to seventeen liters and prognoses say that in 2010 we should drink up as much as twenty three liters. Czech and first of all Moravian vine-growers would take delight in that. “However, increased consumption of wines is, according to our estimation, in most part covered by foreign wines”, a chi ef of wine section of the Ministry of Agriculture, Antoním Králíček, says. So, rather importers should take delight but they are pushed down with price by big chains. Just due to the fact that hypermarkets try to offer to customers rather cheaper wines, there are foreign wines of less quality in shells.

125 milliard Euro for beer

Europeans spend about 125 milliard Euros every year and brewery contributed in the European economy by a sum of 58 milliards last year. It was reported by the organization Brewers of Europe which associates breweries including companies InBev and Heineken. 1,2 percent of labour powers in the European Union relates directly and indirectly to beer, the Association adds.Breweries in Europe employs 164 000 people and other 2,6 million people find their jobs in connected industries. The most number of such jobs is in the Great Britain and Germany.
