Conclusions of the 6th meeting of Monitoring committee OP Agriculture
In June 12 – 13, 2006 the Monitoring committee of Operational program Rural development and multifunctional agriculture met at its sixth negotiation in Znojmo. A spokesman of the Ministry of Agriculture CR (MZe), Tomáš Loskot, informed about it and added that the negotiation was lead by its chairwoman Mahdalena Hrabánková and besides full members also representatives of the European Commission (general management for agriculture and general management for fishing) participated in.
In Great Britain a ban of eggs export from countries with salmonelosis is pursued
Expression of the Czech veterinary administration was completed in 2nd, 3rd and 6th article and expression of poultry breeders in the 7th article. Voices for a ban of export of eggs from European countries where salmonelosis occurrence is over 50 %, so also the Czech Republic, are heard today in the Great Britain. The call is based on confidential report of European Office for foods which came in public and according to which 62 percent of poultry farms in the CR infected. In Spain it is 51 percents and in Poland 51 percents. In the Great Britain it is dealt with 12 percents which is the third place from below in the EU scale. According to a spokesman of the State Veterinary Administration CR, Josef Duben, the occurrence of salmonelosis in poultry farm does not mean that their production is objectionable a threats people’s health.
Present costs for BSE prevention go in millions in the Czech Republic
Present costs connected with preventive measures against the mad cows disease (BSE) go to milliards in the CR. Besides costs for cattle testing and for compensations for killed peers of infected cows, also a ban of feeding farm animals with meat and bone meal has considerable impacts. Other expenditures went into changes in feed production. It results from data which were given to ČTK by the State Veterinary Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture and Federation of Rendering Plants. BSE influenced also beef meat consumption. Since 2001 when the first case of the disease appeared in the CR about 950 000 pieces of animals have been examined which with average price approximately 1200 crowns for one test represents costs over one milliard crowns. It is shared by processors, the state and partly the European Union.
Information campaign on bird flu
Financial sum 150 000 Euro will be invested by Polish poultry association in an information campaign on bird flu. It is planned transmitting of advertising spot in TV and radio which should inform about unobjectionability of poultry meat consumption despite the fact that in Europe cases of bird flu infection appeared. The association earmarked for this campaign a financial sum in height of about 150 000 Euro, partly the sum was covered from contributions of the association members, other financial means were provided by Polish government.
