Affair about bad meat continues
German prosecution in Essen suggested verification of nine domestic and foreign firms trading with meat. A reason is an affair about sale of bad meat which burst out in November. The new investigation will be concentrated on four firms in the Netherlands, in the Czech Republic and five firms in Germany. Heads of these companies will be accused of breaking of law on foods. In all cases it is dealt with a purchaser wholesale dealer with meat, Uwe Domenz from Gelsenkirchen who has been prosecuted by Essen prosecution since last year’s November for trade frauds and crimes according to the law on foods.
EC calls for publishing of data on receivers of support from EU structural funds
The European Commission is prepared to ask member states for full publishing of information on receivers of support from the EU structural funds. According to German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung governments of member states appealed to publish detail data on receivers of means, particular projects and sums which subjects got from the European budget. The EU structural funds are the most often used in frame of so called regional policy. European money are used to improve regional infrastructure, creation of work places, for regional development and to support small and middle firms in a region.
Farmers want government to stop decrease of their production
Representatives of both parliaments of Agrarian chamber of the Czech Republic formed at negotiation in Havlíčkův Brod yesterday their requirements for a new government. Besides others farmers point at the fact that they are forced to decrease production and fight with dramatically growing imports from abroad. They expect from the new government that it will help to stop fall of agricultural production. “It is necessary to express our requirements for the new government before a government declaration started to be compiled regardless whether the first government will get confidence in the Parliament or not”, the president of Agrarian Chamber CR Jan Veleba explained to journalists. “Czech agriculture works now deep under its production possibilities. Reduction of dimensions of Czech agriculture fastens which is caused by growth of negative balance. Imports increase significantly. We do not want decrease production every year”, Jan Veleba expressed his anxiety.
Farmers are rolled by Polish farmers
Onion from Mexico, Chinese garlic, chickens from Italy and Polish cucumbers. Why especially these goods has to be imported? This question is asked by customers when in shell of supermarkets they sometimes rarely, sometimes regularly meet common foods “made in abroad”. It is such a problem to supply them to shops from Czech fields and stables? “Of course, we can produce quality vegetable, milk and meat. However, often we are expelled by inadequately cheap import”, assets the head of Agricultural Union Miroslav Jirovský.
