Babiš can be satisfied. Agrofert increased profit by half last year

Group Agrofert, which is the biggest one in Czech agriculture and the second biggest in inland chemistry, increased net profit by 51,5 percents to 3,6 milliard crowns last year. Takings grew approximately by 16 milliard crowns. Jan Kadaník, the strategy manager said it today at a press conference. Profit and takings grew thanks to firm acquisitions and favourable situation in chemical industry. Also production of fertilizers experiences boom, Kadaník noted. Just fertilizers producers SKW Piesteritz in Germany, of which Agrofert owns 100 percent, and Slovak chemical plant Duslo created historically the best results. Kadaník expressed satisfaction also with economy of bakeries which are a part of the group. A company Penam which belongs among the biggest producers of bakery products created net profit about 134 million crowns last year.

EU operational plan for forestry

On the 15th June, 2006 the EU operational plan for forestry got through in the European Commission. It stems from a resolution of Council from the 15th December, 1998 on a strategy in area of forest management for the European Union; it provides a framework for actions concerning forestry at the level of Community and at the level of member states, and serves as a tool of coordination between actions of the Community and policy in area of forestry of member states. A general aim of the EU operational plan in forestry field is to support and develop sustainable forests management and multifunctional role of forests.

Opponents of whale fishing plan to get other votes

European and South-American delegates at a conference of International Whaling Commission (IWC) in Caribbean island state Saint Christopher and Nevis plan that they will get more countries for the organization which area also against whaling. BBC internet pages write it today.

Temperature shocks destroy crop, growers swear

June temperature shocks make worries also to growers. A couple days ago plants stopped growing in view because they caught a cold and now there is a threat on the contrary that fields and gardens will suffer from lack of water. Many fields on which farmers grow millet and corn were completely yellow from cold several days ago. However, the warm helped them and they are green again. However, cereals would not thrive on longer hot weather, they would start going dry and the harvest would be lower”, Richard Kučera from the State phytosanitary administration in Vyškov reported.
