Sun will heat the Czech Republic to 37 centigrade degrees; it will get cool on Sunday
Meteorologists specified their warning against swelter. It will be as much as 35 centigrade degrees today; tomorrow even 37.On Friday between 34 and 36 degrees. A cold front on Sunday should bring cooling. Due to the heat there is a threat not only of health problems but also fires. People should also save water. “Weather in the Czech Republic is influenced by an area of high atmospheric pressure in which the air above the central Europe heats up”, the warning of Czech Meteorological Institute announces. Temperatures in following days will climb up highly above thirty centigrade degree in shade. Today to 30 till 35 degrees, on Thursday even to 32 till 37 degree, on Friday the temperatures should move between 30 and 34 degrees, however, in Moravia it can still be 36.
Sausage notice does not protect customers
Disadvantaging of Czech producers in favour of foreign competition happens due to “a sausage notice”. At least the Czech Meat Processors Association claims it. The public notice determines even over frame of European regulations a binding composition of selected smoked products from pig and beef meat. Producers don’t feel to be disadvantaged not only towards abroad but also towards poultry breeders. Although objection proceedings is in progress now, the contemporary version will be valid minimally till the end of this year. However, not even then it will be cancelled completely.
Commissioner for agriculture wants to limit expenditures from Common agricultural policy
A commissioner Fisher Boel believes that pressures on publishing of information on payments to European farmers can reveal a need to introduce limits for agricultural subvention. Within a revision of the Common agricultural policy which should take place in 2008 the Commission should find out if means determined for support of European farmers are expended efficiently. If the situation is different, possibly it will be necessary to “create low and upper limits for volume of means which farmers can obtain in frame of the Unified payment scheme”, the commissioner for agriculture, Mariann Fisher Boel said yesterday
Over thousand hectares of genetically modified corn is sown in the Czech Republic
Area, on which genetically modified (GM) corn, resistant to corn moth, has been sown, was increased this year in the Czech Republic. Agricultural agencies register 1290 ha GM corn in total this year which is almost fivefold increase in comparison with the last year when this corn was sown for common production in the Czech Republic for the first time. Other EU states which announced growing GM corn this year are Spain (c. 60 000 ha), France (estimation between 4000 – 5000 ha), Portugal (roughly 1500 ha) and Germany (about 600 ha).
