Brussels enters health game

Two variants of tenders for forest operations

HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ – State enterprise Lesy České Republiky (LČR; Forests of the Czech Republic) offered to entrepreneurs in forestry two variants of advertising of new tenders for operations in forests. The first consist in advertising tenders at the turn of this and next years whereas contracts with validity five to tent years would start to come in force from October 2007. The second variant is advertising tenders this year in September. Contracts would be in force from January but only for one year. CTK was told by a spokeswoman of LČR Alexandra Křižková yesterday. According to her Lesy ČR prefers the first variant. „The first variant brings economic stabilization of the whole segment, so not only of LČR but of entrepreneurial infrastructure, the state enterprise claims. It owns about a half of forests in the country.

Is for agriculture profitable to resume negotiations of WTO as soon as possible?

Finally somebody who is an authority in the WTO sphere – Peter Sutherland (a former general director of GATT/WTO) – decided to tell in public what many of us, who deal with questions of liberalization of world trade, has stricken – that it is not purposeful to insist on high ambitions of developing round of negotiations of WTO (DDA), but that it is far much reasonable to reduce the ambitions and reach agreement. Why? Because in present distribution of powers in WTO is far more difficult to reach multilateral agreement which is much ambitious than was the round of GATT negotiations, so called Uruguay round (UK GATT).
