Economy of agricultural enterprises –what it is?

According to Report on state of agriculture of the CR over the year 2005 which appeared in summer month this year, economic results of management were slightly worse than in 2004. However, year-on-year swings in this branch are common. The economic result in 2005 was 7,64 mld. CZK. Decrease in comparison the previous year is 11 % and the absolute decrease 920 mil. CZK. The deterioration happened first of all due to decrease of volume of production (by 4,8 %) and prices of agricultural products (by 9,2 %). The situation worsened but a positive economic result at a relatively good level was maintained. Of course, the economic result (profit) is a top indicator of management because its existence itself shows evidence of a surplus of yields (operation) over costs. And the enterprise which wants profit has to strive for such a surplus.

Bio-farmers are harmed by weather less

In ecological agriculture climatic risks as long droughts and intensive rains in growing of crops have substantially less impacts on volume and quality of harvest. At least it is claimed by the shadow minister of agriculture for the Green party and a former negotiator of conditions for the entrance of the Czech Republic to the European Union, Tomáš Zídek. One of conditions of ecologic agriculture is a ban to use chemical fertilizers and a preparation for plant treatment. In the classical agriculture chemistry kills organisms in soil which in facts becomes, according to Tomáš Zídek, “a holder for plant”. This risk in bio-agriculture does not exist.

Bee-keepers from Haná report average harvest of honey this year. Bees did not suffer damage by July tropical heats, however they are weakened by the long winter which caused even death of some colony of bees. Today’s Přerovský deník (Daily) informs about it. “This year’s apicultural year was a bit weaker than last year. Especially rape honey had a slightly less harvest because bees were weakened by very long winter. However, we have sufficient amount of honey from other plants despite extreme tropical temperatures”, the chairman of County Council of Czech Bee-keepers Union in Přerov, František Hošek, said to the daily.

Wind energy attract investors

A new kind of enterprise started in the Czech Republic: building and operation of wind power stations. Number of vanes in our landscape visibly increases. And the next year other projects will literally explode. The break was caused last year by the passed law which ensures for investors a fix purchase prices of electricity from renewable resource for fifteen years. “This year only build who had started with preparation already before the adoption of law on renewable resources. Many other projects begin”, the owner of firm KV Venti, David Jozefy, a member of directorship of Czech society for wind energy, explains. “I estimates, that next year fifty, maybe as many as eighty wind power station will be buit here next year”, Jozefy claims, whose firm opened operation of two vane near Pavlov in Jihlava region last week.
