Reporting from operational program

The Ministress of Agriculture Milena Vicenová announces the twelfth round of reception of application for financial aid from the operational program Rural development and multifunctional agriculture. This last round is opened for the only measure, i.e. 1.2. Improvement of agricultural products processing and their marketing. There are 71,6 million crowns disposable. In term from Monday the 27th of September 2006 till Friday the 15th of December (till 12 o’clock) interested people can put forward their applications in seven regional departments of the State agricultural intervention fund (SZIF) in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové, ˙eské Bud˙jovice, Ústí nad Labem, Olomouc and Opava.

An intention of sugar refinery group Eastern Sugar will considerably affect producers and processors of sugar beet in one from the most fertile areas of Europe in Haná and partially in Bohemia. Due to limitation of sugar production in the EU the mentioned group considers closing its five plants in central Europe including the Czech Republic. Only in three sugar refineries which they own in Bohemia and Moravia, in N˙m˙ice na Hané, Kojetín and in Hroch˙v Týnec about 400 people would lost their job and roughly the same amount of others would lost jobs in connecting branches which provide services to sugar refineries.

Czechs with Germans blocked rice in beer price

Beer drinkers can exult. Beer will not rise in price meanwhile, at least from decision of the European Commission which wanted to increase a consumption tax. The European Commission wants to the Czech Republic and other six states increase the beer consumption tax somewhere between the years 2008-2010, namely roughly by a fifth. Then the state would collect by about 30 hallers more than now from a half liter of beer. Due to sufficient costs the price would increase as much as by one crown.

Sale of bio-food grows in the Czech Republic, tradesmen enlarge offer

Czech businessmen enlarge offer of bio-products originating from ecological farmers. Sale of bio-products in the Czech Republic grows, even despite the fact that their price is often higher than price of classical foods. In some large shops there are available almost bio-products imported from abroad because according to businessmen the inland farmers’ offer is not sufficient for the present. Sale of own bio-products was opened these days for example i n hypermarkets Interspar. “Customers can choose from in average 50 bio-products of several sale assortment as milk and milk products are, bread and pastry or fruit and vegetable”, the general director of firm SPAR Czech trade company, Martin Hruška, said to journalists. Also Delvita supermarkets network sells bio-products.
