CR will ask for pollution permits of volume 102 mil. tons; government decided

The Czech Republic will require pollution permits in volume of 101.9 million tons of carbon dioxide yearly for a period of years 2008 – 2012. The government decided on it at night to Thursday. The Premier Mirek Topolánek informed on it after the end of government negotiation. Inland businesses have about 97 million permits to disposal for years 2005 – 2007 and they used 82 million from them last year. The ecological Movement Rainbow (Hnutí Duha), Greenpeace, and the Center for transport and Energetics (CDE) criticized a so called National allocation plan in today’s press release and suggest a limitation of exhalations to 78 million tons.

EC tries to avert Russian ban of meat import from Union

The European Union tries to prevent a Russian ban of meat import from the EU countries. According to s spokesman of the European Commission Philip Tod a commissioner for protection of consumer, Markos Kyprianu, met a Russian ambassador at the EU due to the threatening ban on Tuesday evening and he will go also to Moscow for this. Russia started to speak about a possible ban of meat import from the whole EU at the end of November after Poland blocked a negotiation of the European Union with Russia on a new agreement on strategic partnership, among others just owing to already one year lasting Russian ban of import of Polish meat. Russia gave reasons for the considered ban of meat import from the whole EU by Bulgarian and Romanian admission on the 1st of January 2007 that they will not be able to secure sufficient sanitary checks.

Growing demand for bio-foods brings new entrepreneurial opportunities

A number of bio-food producers grows with increasing number of ecologic farmers. In comparison with the last year their number has increased from 125 to present 150 (by 20 %). Many Czech bio-food producers enlarge its supply with new bio-commodities. Although the conventional agriculture battles with overproduction and sale problems, demand for bio-raw materials from side of bio-food producers still increases. Also possibilities of bio-food sale improve in consequence of increased interest of consumers. A successful example of increased interest of producers and consumers are products appreciated in a competition “Czech bio-food 2006” which is annually announced the Foundation Partnership (Nadace Partnerství) in cooperation with the Union of ecologic farmers PRO-BIO. Prices to winners were handed over by the Ministress of Agriculture Milena Vicenováat a ceremonial announcement of results in Septemeber 2006. The Ministry contributed as well to the competition performance.

Ministry of Agriculture does not receive Setuza’s proposals to repurchase debt

For the present the Ministry of Agriculture does not received proposals of owners of the firm Setuza who want to cancel an execution and prevent a possible bankruptcy of the business. The court has recently sent Setuza into execution on proposal of the government because of that the front food firm owns over four milliard crowns to the state. On Monday Setuza’s owners from the company M.L.Moran suggested that they will pay roughly seven hundred million crowns for the outstanding debt. However, the Ministress Milena Vicenová considers it as too low price.
