MRSA in pig meat

VWA appeals to a member states to work together to obtain comparable data - the Netherlands is interested in coordination of this project. Staphylococcus aureus resistant to methicillin occurred in increased extent in the Netherlands in pig meat, in pigs and in farmers. According to a survay of the Netherlandish office for food safety - VWA (Voedsel en waren autoriteit), the very feared clinical pathogen MRSA - methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus occurred in pig meat, in pigs and in excessively high extent in farmers. In the Netherland it is dealt with a different strain than which usually appears in hospitals and MRSA is trasmitted by a considerable number of pigs in which the disease runs in a latent form.

A false Žatec hops appeared on Chinese market

Domestic growers face falsifications of Czech hops varieties, especially of Žatec SAAZ Semi-early red bine hops. Hops of similar characteristics which its producers pose as a very demanded raw material from Žatec appears not only in China but also in Russia and Romania. „Therefore it is necessary to focus except increase of quality also on a protection of our varieties. While a certification system has worked without problems since the reign of Hapsburgs in the Czech Republic and Germany, protection of varieties in Asia does not exist in practice“, says the president of Union of Businessmen and Processors, Jiří Vent.

ME sent application for endowments to EU late; municipalities fear for money

The Ministry of Environment (ME) sent applications for billion endowments for building of sewerage and sewage plant one day later to Brussels. While the binding term was the 28th of February, the Minister Martin Bursík (Green Party) sent the materials as late as on the 1st March. Now municipalities are afraid so that they would not lose the needed billions and would not have to ask for them again. The television Nova reported it today.

Wheat pastries rose in price; prices of tomato decreased in the 9th week

Last week white wheat pastries rose in price significantly; also prices of bananas and consumption apples increased in Czech shops. Tomatoes fell in price, also peppers and white wine were sold for lower prices. It results from a regular survey of the Czech Statistic Office.
