There is threat of bad crops as well as floods due to drought

If the present drought continues the Czechs will remind themselves pictures of fields without cereals from the catastrophic year 1997. It has not been raining for a longer time. April temperatures resemble rather a start of summer, moreover, the dry period started unusually soon. “Years 2000 and 2003 were also very dry but it came later that time”, Radim Tolasz from the Czech Hydrometeorologic Institute says.

Notice for applicants for support from agri-environmental measures

Farmers who manage on state land and close five-year engagement for farming this year within ranking in the program of environmental measures will pay a rent in height of 2,4 percent from average price of land according to a regulation in force. The presidium of Land Fund CR decided on it unanimously. The Land Fund updates in this sense methodical instructions for closing of five-year contracts in frame of the Rural Development Program for the period 2007 to 2013.

CE Wood in Zlín wants to rent state forests in Morava

CE Wood from Zlín, the biggest Czech wood firm wants to rent state forests for a long time. A chief of the company Ivan Doubrava offers 1,5 billion crowns yearly for rent if forests in Morava. Mladá fronta Dnes wrote it today. In Doubrava's opinion the figure should open eyes to the government and managers of the state enterprise Lesy of the Czech Republic (LČR) and to refer to non-effectiveness of LČR economy.
