Prague ZOO succeeded to obtain a sample of dropping of a newly born gorilla young. The sample was sent to an analysis which will determine a gender of the small gorilla. ZOO will have had results approximately in a month. However, to determine it definitively it will be necessary to have one more independent analysis. ˙TK was said it today by a spokesman of the ZOO Vít Kahle. Gorilla Kijivu gave birth toe the young on the 30 of May. However, gorilla-men couldn’t obtain a sample of dropping earlier because the young excreted in the mother’s coat. When the gender of young is known ZOO will start to organize christening party of the rare gain and to choose a name.

There is eightyfold more Listeria in south Moravia; experts trained firms

In South-Moravian region occurrence of a bacteria Listeria in foods increased eightyfold year-on-year in period from June 2006 to May 2007. Hygienic officers revealed in this period 16 cases; in the previous five years Listeria appeared only once in the south of Moravia. Therefore the Veterinary Administration in cooperation with hygienic officers and the Agrarian Chamber organized several seminars. It was participated especially by firms which had problem with this bacteria last year, said Jan Letocha, a councilman of South-Moravian region to ˙TK.

In Frýdlant region custom officers hold back other illegal waste from Germany

North-Bohemian custom officers hold back a camion with illegally imported waste from Germany on Tuesday near a village Arnoltice in Frýdlant region. A vehicle which they stopped in a common road check belonged to a Czech carried 25 tons of communal waste, Roman Naibert from a Custom head office in Ústí. “The driver did not have relevant permissions for transport of waste”, he added. Custom officers ensured the delivery; now they will record it in documents and they will hand over it to be inspected to the Czech Inspection of Environment.
