Final sanitation of farm hit by bird flu starts in Tisová in region Ústí nad Orlicí

In total about 7000 pieces of poultry have died or have been destroyed. Workers of the cooperative together with fire-brigade washed breeding halls with hot water with disinfection solution. Today a specialized firm will realize a final disinfection of buildings. Soldiers from Olomouc rescue battalion have finished their work in Tisová today and returned to their basis. On the farm the army secured among others also operation of disinfection corridor from Thursday. On Saturday a bedding which was a source of the infection was put in a specially arranged silo trench. A stack of straw from which the bedding came from the firemen burnt yesterday. On Friday all till this time live turkey hens were destroyed as well as about 1000 pieces of domestic poultry in Tisová.

Food producers are against advance payment for PET bottles

The Food Industry Chamber is against a system of advance payments for plastic bottles and cans which introduction the Ministry of Environment consider. According to food producers introduction of advance payments would require billion investments in beverage production which would be paid by enterprises and consumers in higher prices. Beside this the Chamber emphasizes also sanitary problems, especially in shops where covers would be returned. Representatives of FCH reported it at today’s press conference. ČTK finds out expression of the ministry. Vice versa the current system of sorting and recycling of wastes proved good according to food producers.

Spring frosts will drastically reduce fruit harvest

Fruit growers can not certainly rejoice this year. This year’s harvest will be owing to April and May frosts the lowest since 1995. Damages will obviously reach more than 400 million crowns. Bad harvest will show also in rise in market prices of fruit. According to estimation to a half of June the harvest should be 136 550 ton which is year-on-year by 29 percent less. In apples because of bad harvest the rise in prices can be by ten to 20 percent. A secretary of Fruit Growers Union of CR Martin Ludvík said it. A year financial value of fruit harvested in the Czech Republic is usually above one billion crowns. The weather had the most unfavourable impact on apple-trees which are the main Czech fruit type.

Huntsmen monitor health state of wild birds

In context of occurrence of bird flu in region Ústí nad Orlicí huntsmen monitor health state of wild birds. This activity is connected to an agreement on cooperation of Czech-Moravian Huntsman Union (ČMMJ) and the State Veterinary Association (SVS ČR) from the 6th of June 2007. Huntsmen secure basic monitoring of occurrence of extra-sensitive sort of birds in terrain and will help to realize measures which SVS ČR will suggest. Thanks to everyday working in nature huntsmen are a basic element of monitoring of health state of animals at the state territory.
