Fruit-growers: The worst harvest in 45 years

Fruit-growers will have by as much as a half less harvest of apples this year. “I have been a fruit-grower for forty five years, however, so bad year I don’t remember”, Josef Thoř from Pěnčín says. “Some trees have no apples”. In his opinion, the bad harvest is owing to spring frost and hail-stones but mainly extreme drought in April. “It did not rain, dry wind blowed and no dew fell in the morning. Flowers which did not freeze got dry”, Thoř described. The worst situation is in variety Bohemia, Rubin, Gold Bohemia, just what we specialize for.

After neghbouring Bavaria bird flu is in neghbouring Saxony too

After Bavarian Norimberk there are also new cases of bird flue reported in Germany. The Municipal Ministry of Health in Dresden informed today that three dead swans have been found out in Frohburg southwards from Leipzig. Epidemiologists find out still whether new occurrences are connected with infected east-Bohemian turkey farm in Tisová.

New player in area of renewable resources wants to be first

A new company on market with renewable resources Energy 21 started its activity at the end of June. The group Energy 21 does not conceal big ambitions; it operates in all areas of renewable resources (sun, water, wind, biomass and geothermal resource) and is not limited only to the Czech Republic. In 207 it realizes projects in total for c. 300 million CZK, in 2008 it should be 3 billion. The group cooperates closely with universities and front research associations, so it has possibility to introduce technological news in practice quickly and minimize use of energy resources. Except own projects Energy 21 strives to find out and take over foreign unrealized intentions, their support and to put them in operation.

Green revolution comes again

Golf clubs produced from coconut, doors of a car from agave, desks of tables from rape. Natural materials start to replace synthetic ones. The automobile factory Mercedes-Benz has a long list of natural materials which it uses in some types of cars: flix and agave fibres for internal lining, coconut fibres and latex for upholstery of seats. Head restraints and washers are stiffened with cotton fibres; other material serves for sound proofing.
