Grants for landscape tendings

Five applicants from Olomouc region will receive in total 370 thousand crowns from a program Tree of Life, the Foundation Partnership. The money are determined among others to involve public in maintenance of nature preserve Kudla˙ena, outplanting of Alley of Nations in Velká Byst˙ice, or to renovate a fruit orchard and a park in Uhelná. In total 87 applicants reacted to the last grant call appeal. The Commission than selected 36 projects among which it divided 1,9 million crowns. Similar projects have still a chance to get support in last this year´s grant round deadline of which is on the 31st August.

Brussels says: You protect wild bird insufficiently

The European Commission takes serious exception to how the Czech Republic wants to protect birds in its territory. An ecological Euro-commissioner Stavros Dimas in a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Karel Schwarzenberg criticized Czech government that within annunciation of European protected system Natura 2000 it have not annunciate two significant bird areas in Southern Bohemia yet. Moreover, other significant areas were considerably reduced – e.g. the region T˙ebo˙ – by the Cabinet despite expert recommendations of ornithological association BirdLife International.

Investigation of bird flu continues

Works of the State Veterinary Administration do not finish by announcement of extraordinary veterinary measures at places of occurrence of aviary influenza, of course. Breedings in protective zone as well as dead wild bird are still examined. Also poultry kept in entrepreneurial breedings in the zones are also examined; for example plants breeding about 180 000 pieces of poultry were tested last week. Veterinary inspectors keeping all safety measures take samples from trachea and cloaca swabs for examination and it is possible to confirm that market network gets health unobjectionable poultry. I concerns also eggs, of course.

What can be and can not be imported?

Because many people do not know what they can import from holiday without problems, we bring some facts. It is also because quite lot of people is not aware of a possibility that they can have problems in return from countries outside the EU in crossing EU borders. The State Veterinary Administration of CR considers as useful to remind just in time of tourist season that for example sausage or cheese from countries outside the European Union intended as a present is not the best solution.
