ÚOHS: Information on rise in price can break antimonopoly law
Recently some mass media give still more often information on a necessity to increase price of some foods. It is dealt with above all bakery, meat and milk commodities, whereas the rise in price is advised by both the individual producers - usually the most prominent - and the representatives of association of basic industry producers and processors. The former group is represented by the biggest bakeries and producers of milk and meat products in the Czech Republic, the latter by representatives of the Agrarian and Food Chamber, baking and flour-milling unions. As reasons of rise in price especially rise of prices of inputs, a high all-European or worldwide demand for a commodity, a lack of reserves and so on are reported. A character of published information is from a viewpoint of economic competition at least suspicious.

Trade chains will probably partially damp a significant rise in bread and pastry prices which is advised for September by large baking companies. It results from answers of retail companies which ČTK addresses today. For example the biggest Czech baking firm United Bakeries will raise prices of goods in average by twenty percent from the 1st of September owing to growing prices of cereals and other inputs; however, the price jump would not have to be so fierce on shop counters.
