Regions want to shift term for investments in sewerage plants
There is not enough time to improve a system of sewerage water to which the Czech Republic obliged on its entering the European Union by the year 2010. Therefore the government should come to an agreement with the EU on prolongation of transitive period for necessary investment in town sewerage plants. At today’s negotiation the presiding judge of the Senate Přemysl Sobotka (ODS) and representatives of the Association of regions. “We trust that the present government will negotiate at least prolongation of the term because it is not possible to make it by the year 2010 and in case that the obligation were not fulfilled, there is a danger of certain sanctions from the side of European Union”, Sobotka said to journalists after the negotiation. CTK seeks for expression of relevant ministries.
Panel IPCC: Climatic changes are obvious and they will continue
A final summary of its (in order already the fourth) evaluating report on actual state knowledge of changes of global climate in Spain Valencia was published by International Panel for Climatic Changes (IPCC). “Basic message of the IPCC report is not anyhow surprising – unfortunately, climatic changes are a reality as well as the significant influence of human activity on them. Climatic changes will continue throughout the 21st century. Nevertheless, it depends on us how they will be intensive, how serious will be their impacts, and how well we will able to prepare for it” Martin Bursík, the minister of environment commented conclusions of scientific panel. “I would be glad if Václav Klaus were true and next generation smiled at out today’s fears. Unfortunately, all scientific pieces of knowledge evidence the contrary”, Martin Bursík added.
Ice wine will be sooner thanks to frosts
By almost one month earlier than in normal years vine-growers will have ice wine. Ten-degree frosts which mastered South Moravia at the weekend enabled to vine-growers to fasten this year’s harvest of grapes for ice wine. It has to harvest and produce in a minimal temperature six degree below zero. “Usually harvest starts at the turn of November and December; nevertheless, last year we picked grapes owing to moderate winter the day before the New Year’s Eve”, Petr Marcinčák revealed.
There will be lack of wood, its processors beat a retreat
The state enterprise Lesy České republiky will not probably be able to meet its contract liabilities during the first quarter next year and will not deliver necessary amount of wood for further processing to trade partners. At least entrepreneurs in wood-processing industry claim it. According to a general director of company LESS, Jan Milčák, the basic cause in conditions and above all results of recently finished selective proceedings.
