Gandalovič: Competitiveness of farmers increases

Membership of the Czech Republic in the European Union can be evaluated from a view-point of Czech agriculture after four years despite some obstructions as very positive; the Common Agrarian Policy pays off with respect to the annual inflow of financial means. Thanks to direct payments and the Rural Development Plan our situation and competitiveness of farmers improves.

The Ministry of Education does not have enough people to spend money from EU

Martin Bursík who managed a resort temporarily wants to improve a situation by better communication with universities and by return of experts who have recently left the Ministry. The vice-premier Martin Bursík (Green Party) who is charged with management of the Ministry of Education temporarily considers the lack of experts in the office as the biggest problem of preparations for spending EU money. At today’ s meeting with rectors of universities and the Government Council for Research and Development Bursík came to an agreement on a procedure of negotiation of the program Research and Development for Innovations.

Imbalance on world sugar market

In the season 2007/2008 according to reports of ZMP and ISO world sugar production increases within a relatively stable demand which manifests itself in decreased in prices, aggregation of market surpluses and growth of world reserves. While prices of cereals and plant oils in the world gauge within a comparatively lower harvest and a considerable growth of demand are considerably high tending to growth further, the situation on world sugar market is different.

State should privatize part of forest property

According to the Ministry of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič (ODS) the state should sell a part of its forests in the future. The minister said it in an interview for today’s Hospodářské noviny (HN). However, before it, in his opinion, a restitution of church property has to be solved as well as to change a law on state forests and a structure of the state enterprise Lesy CR.
