Almost 100 percent of tenders for forestry works has been already closed
Almost 100 percents of contracts for forestry works as been solved to today. The Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič informed on it at today's press conference. According his words contracts has been closed at 247 contractual territorial units and at other 10 units the negotiations will be closed soon. A new management of s. p. Lesy CR succeeded to stabilize trade with timber and a situation in wood-processing industry at all in a record-short time.
President took foxes' side. He vetoed law on den hunt
The President Václav Klaus swept down from a table a law which had enabled huntsmen to use a fox as a live bait for training of hunting dogs. Representatives approved for huntsmen that in training of den hunt they can remove a grill separating a dog from a fox. However, the Senate did not passed this change of law on protection of animals against torture. Than, the Parliament voted down the Senate at the beginning of February. The considerable discordance between the both parliamentary chambers the President sent the law again to be negotiated in the Parliament. He is sorry for the fact that a general discussion on the whole thing developed in a moment when he got the new law to be signed.
Warm weather speeded up start of field works by a month
Unusually warm weather speeded up a start of spring field works in most regions of the Czech Republic by four to six weeks earlier than usually. Land is now suitable for sowing also because there was a little amount of snow during the winter. However, farmers will maybe have higher costs for grain protection because due to mild winter there is a danger of outbreak of pests and noxious animals. According to idea of a chairman of the Regional Agrarian Chamber in Ústí, František Loudát, a well-timed sowing of spring crops plays a big role because it improves total results of growing. Crops can better use moisture for their emergence.
Veleba: Import of foods of poor quality in the Czech Republic growth
According to Jan Veleba, the president of Agrarian Chamber, foods of poor quality negatively influence health of the Czechs. Already forty percents of foods is exported in the Czech Republic. Mainly import of foods of poor quality grows, above all raw materials for their production. It results from information which the president of Agrarian Chamber CR Jan Veleba gave to the server iHNED.cz. In his opinion a drastic example of this development is especially import of pig meat. While a year before joining the European Union pig meat for 1,3 billion crowns was imported, in last year it was 6,7 billion which is 129 695 tons.
