CR and Sweden at the head of EU want to reduce bureaucracy and direct payments
According to the Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič, priorities of the Czech Republic and Sweden, which will preside over the European Union in 2009, agree in matters of the EU Common Agricultural Policy. Both states will aim at decreasing of cost for direct payments and reducing of bureaucracy. Sweden will more emphasize fishery and protection of Environment; the Czech Republic logically the quality of foods and their marking, said Gandalovič to Journalists immediately after his negotiation with Sweden Minister of Agriculture at a food fairground Salima in Brno today.

In order the 26th year of food fair SALIMA, MBK, INECO and VINEX was started today morning at the fairground in Brno, which celebrates 80 years of its existence this year, by the Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič. At the same time he handed over appraisal Zlatá Salima (Gold Salima) to fifteen new laureates which were chosen by an evaluation commission from 70 entered products from 27 exhibitors. The eight-member jury evaluated sensory aspects in milk products, meat products, rational nutrition products, cold meal products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and confectionary products and a six-member commission deal with technology.
Czech Republic and Slovakia will make an application for registration of “špekáčeks”
The Czech Republic and Slovakia is going to make a common application for a registration of traditional smoked products - špekáčeks (a kind of sausages) at the General Head Office for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission. In frame of food fair Salima in Brno it was announced today by the Minister of Agriculture CR Petr Gandalovič and his Slovak colleague Zdenka Kramplová. They demonstrated the unified will by a symbolic pulling together a špekáček rope.
The Czech bio-food of the year 2007 is “Pošumavský biomed”
In total 71 products from thirty producers sought for appraisal the Czech bio-food of the year 2007. Regarding a record participation a jury decided to bestow, except the absolute winner which Pošumavský biomed (bio-honey from Šumava region) became, a prize to wholemeal spelt crackers with pumpkin seed and garlic from Biopekárna Zemanka; further to Bio kysaný nápoj jahoda (Bio strawberry fermented beverage) from Mlékárna Valašské Meziříčí and to Hostětínský sirup from elderberry produced by s.r.o. Tradice Bílých Karpat. Announcement of results took place in a Rotunda of the pavilion A at fairground in Brno today morning as a part of opening of the international food fairs.
