Transfers of property were crime

For disgracefully long time there was not, in after-November CR, a political will really to keep relevant regulations of the Law on land and especially those on transformation of agricultural cooperatives whose aim was a property settlement with entitled persons by both the form of classical restitutions and the release of transformation shares. If democracy in the CR were measured only according to this process, we would be in the same situation as today's Russia or Cuba.

Exotic swans flew in Moravia

With a bit of luck we can now meet two exotic swans, the whooper swan and the black swan, in central Moravia. Home of the first bird is Scandinavia while the second comes from Australia. The occurrence of both kinds in the region is considered by ornithologists as rarity. The whooper swan, which has in comparison with our swans a yellow beak and a shrill voice, was leg-ringed the year before last in Northern Germany. Than it was repeatedly monitored in Hradecký pond in Tovačov and it appeared also in regions Hodonín, Kroměříž and Olomouc. The whole last year's nest season it spent on the pond Pod hrází in Kojetín where it is also now.

Three-year campaign for bio-foods for 24 millions starts in Czech Republic

A campaign to promote bio-foods and ecological agriculture starts in the Czech Republic. It will last three years and will cost about 24 million crowns. A half will be paid by the European Union and the rest by the State Agricultural Intervention Fund. An aim of the campaign is to increase awareness of the public, schools or for example of health facilities of possibilities of wider use of bio-foods in everyday life, Tom Václavík, an organizer of today's international conference on bio-foods in public boarding at the fair Salima in Brno.

Ministry for Local Development advertised other year of competition “Village of year 2008”

At yesterday's Day of Small Municipalities the 1st deputy minister for local development Jiří Vačkář together with a deputy minister for European affairs Daniel Toušek, a chairman of the Association for Rural Renewal in CR Eduard Kavala, and vice-chairman of the Union of Towns and Villages of CR Josef Bezdíček solemnly declare already the 14th year of a competition “Village of the year 2008”. The aim of the competition is to encourage inhabitants of the country to actively participate in renewal and development of its village, as well as to show diversity and versatility of life outside a town to wide public.
