Government approved increase of budget of Ministry of Agriculture
The government at today's meeting accorded a request of the Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič for provision of means of a government budget reserve for subsidiary programs of agriculture and a request for permission of use of means of a reserve fund of organizational state unit of the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) for another purpose and changes of obligatory indicators of the state budget. Petr Vorlíček, a spokesman of the ministry informed on it. Generally according to him MZe will be able to use 390 mil. CZK over a frame of resort budget approved at the end of last year.

A marking “Bio-product of ecological agriculture” is strictly reserved by the law on ecological agriculture. A green "zebra”, a logo of “Bio-product of ecological agriculture”, guarantees to consumers that bio-foods are really genuine, coming from a domestic eco-farm. Bio-foods contain at average higher amount of vitamin C and essential minerals as calcium, magnesium, iron and chromium, as well as antioxidants important for a fight against cancer. Several studies proved that bio-vegetable and bio-fruit contain by as much as 50 % more vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other nutrients in comparison with a conventional production.
International conference indentified opportunities in area of health boarding
While schools in Italy cook from bio-foods quite commonly and school kitchens in Austria have set a minimal share of bio-foods, in the Czech Republic only the “first bio swallow” appear. An international conference “Bio-foods in public boarding - Health and sustainability on plate” negotiated on obstructions in introduction of bio-foods in public boarding and first of all on examples how to overcome them in fairground in Brno in frame of fairs SALIMA. An aim of the conference was to introduce projects mission of which is to introduce bio-foods in schools, hospitals, restaurants and other gastronomic facilities.
Water consumption in CR decreases gradually; quality and price grow
Consumption of water in the Czech Republic decreases in last years while its price gradually grows. Quality and purity of water increase year after year. Also a share of people connected to water supply and canalization increases progressively. It results from statistics of the Association of section of water supply and canalization (SOVAK) and the Ministry of Environment (MŽP). The Czechs began ton safe water; in last 20 years daily consumption of water per person decreased from 150 liters to almost 100 liters. Similar situation is in Poland and Slovakia, however, in West Europe the consumption is higher. Households use more economical appliances, moreover, still less and less people drink water from the water supply, a directress of SOVAK Miroslava Melounová thinks.
