ÚOHS: The biggest Czech cannery can be bought by Icelanders

The Antimonopoly Office agrees with a sale of a company Hamé to a group Nordic Partners. It approved a fusion of Icelanders and the biggest domestic canning firm without objections because in its opinion it will not harm Czech market. In the same way the Office judged also an application of Nordic Partners for a purchase of a meat products producer Otomac. A spokesman of the Office for Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) Kristián Chalupa said it to ČTK today. Thanks to acquisition the Northern group will strengthen its position in the Central Europe. Hamé with 3000 employees belongs among the biggest food plants in the Czech Republic; it produces ketchups, cans, jams and baguettes.

Packages of meat products

Trends in production of natural packages. About one third of international market with natural packages is taken by Germany which considerably influences the world market with natural packages determined for packaging of meat products. In last two years a volume of production was increased by more than 16 percents. In production of natural packages for meat products various innovations are used in such a way that final products can be automatically used in production of meat products. Still more and more suitable ways of use of natural packages in production of meat products are developed whereas output increases.

Warming endangers human rights, London warns

Climatic changes can indirectly endanger human rights, therefore it is a moral obligation of all to fight against them. This message was brought by the newest annual report on human rights which have been published by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1997. “Rising temperature, changing water management, more often and more extended droughts, and increasing sea levels will cause damages in supply of vital raw materials”, the Whitehall's report states. Lack of water and food will lead to a tension in critical regions which can come to a bloody war.

Land adjustments do landscape good

New rural road, anti-erosion and flood-protection measures, new elements in landscape, land adjustments set up land ownership, create conditions for efficient management, have soil-protective function, and put the finishing touches to a landscape character. Land adjustments have been finished or they are in process at this time on about 18 percents of CR agricultural land. Roughly 1000 km of rural roads were realized or reconstructed, anti-erosion and flood-protection measures have been carried on almost 400 ha; new outplanting of green vegetation are on 1180 ha.
