Foresters in region Zlín prepare for fight with wood engraver

Foresters on the region Zlín start preparing for a fight with wood engraver. Owing to dry weather in last years they can exclude neither this year its outbreak in some places. Except an installation of pheromone traps they prepare also so called traps for whose preparation will be used a part of calamity wood mass after March windstorm Emma. A director of Zlín regional inspectorate of Lesy České republiky Miloš Valenta said it to ČTK.

Regional Veterinary Administration in Ústí nad Labem recorded brucellosis of hares in Litoměřice region

On the 12th of March a dead hare was found near Slatina pod Hazenburkem this year. Laboratory tests confirmed brucellosis. The infection is registered by veterinary doctors from the September 2004 also in surroundings of near-by Úpohlavy. Therefore protective zones were pronounced here. No shot hare can get in a sale network. The disease is among hares spread also in the region Hradec Králové in CR where the protective zone includes about hundred municipalities.

There are few bees; honey and fruit will rise in price

Price of honey will climb to 130 crowns per kilo. Such is an estimation of bee-keepers who have sold honey till this time for about 80 crowns. The rise in price will not probably avoid either apples, pears and vegetable. According to experts this year’s warm winter has liquidated as much as third of Czech bees. They are the main pollinators of fruit trees as well as rape, carrot and onion. Bees are killed by a mean mite which is usually successfully eradicated during winter. “However, if a winter is too warm, the mite continues in parasiting on bees’ fetus and survives the winter”, Miloslav Peroutka, a secretary of the Czech beekeepers Union. Two warm successive winters extraordinarily strengthened the mites.
