Veleba: This year´s weather promises good harvest of cereals and rape

Farmers expect very good harvest of cereals and rape this year. According to a president of the Agrarian Chamber Jan Veleba above all this year´s weather will help to it - mild winter, colder spring with enough rain falls as well as year-on-year increase of areas under crops. The weather is very suitable above all for cereals, rape and potatoes; vice versa lower temperatures do not contribute much to grass growths on meadows, Veleba said to ČTK today. First estimations of harvest for this year will be available in first June decade. This year´s weather is unusually favourable for farmers.

NOVA advertising campaign looks for Czech (bio) cake

The Movement Rainbow (Hnutí DUHA) starts a wide advertising campaign which will help to promote better offer of Czech bio-foods in shops. Remarkable advertisement will offer people to e-mail to big producers and to demand more Czech bio-goods. The broad-minded campaign is a part of the program „Czech Cake Wanted“ and will take place in few next weeks in Prague and Brno. It uses posters, advertising areas in Czech Railway wagons and in cars of urban mass transportation, a citylight as well as a banner on mass-visited webs. The Movement Rainbow expects that the campaign will speak to hundreds thousands of people.

Tomatoes are small youth potion

Tomatoes are not only delicious but also health-beneficial vegetable. Except that they can slow down effects of aging, they also protect a skin against damage by sunrays. An antioxidant lycopene is responsible for healing power of love apples. Just thanks to it tomatoes have anti-cancer effects; they protect complexion against negative UV radiation and rise of wrinkles. According to specialists from universities in Manchester and Newcastle, to eat five spoons of tomato purée, ketchup or in other way heat-treated tomatoes daily is completely enough.

UNO: There will be no new medicines. Animals and plant die out

Dying out of plant and animal varieties will cause that scientists will have less possibilities to investigate and obtain healing substances, the United Nation Organization (UNO) warned. More than hundred scientists came to this conclusion. Results of the research were published in a UNO publication „Sustainable life: How human health depends on diversity of varieties“. According the authors people by decline of animal and plant varieties lose a key to development of life-saving medicines - from antibiotics to preparations for treatment of cancer.
