Veleba: Rock oil will increase prices of agricultural products by as much as 10 pct except cereals

Prices of agricultural products should increase owing to growth of rock oil prices by five to ten percents this year. A president of the Agrarian Chamber Jan Veleba said it to ČTK today. To what degree the cost growth will project in food prices will depend on the market, he added. According to Veleba, prices will not grow equally; cereals should not rise in price. ”Prices of cereals should even decrease”, Veleba said and added that farmers expect abnormal harvest this year.

Rise in cereal price causes problems to pig and chicken breeders and fishermen

Breeders of chicken and pigs as well as fishermen get in troubles owing to rapid growth of prices of cereals for feeding of animals. Significant loses threaten especially to smaller firms with the only activity which do not have enough pieces of land and could not grow cereals and get subsidies per hectare. Breeders wait for new harvest where the price of cereals should lower at least slightly. ČTK found out it from farmers in the region Pilsen.

KLASA will introduce itself in new campaign

The national quality mark KLASA has a new advertising campaign. It emphasizes the quality of foods and its double control. Therefore, a central topic on the new campaign became a couple of examiners who investigate quality of food with the mark KLASA. Communication of the mark KLASA has shifted in next stage. While in the first campaign it was essential to get the mark KLASA in consumers’ consciousness; the second campaign focused on a support of purchase behaviour. This year the State Agricultural Intervention Fund, which manages the mark KLASA, decided to underline the most important characteristics of foods with the mark KLASA, namely their quality.

Ekonom: Brewery Eggenberg is in bankruptcy

The brewery Eggenberg which was bought by a controversial entrepreneur František Mrázek at beginning of 90’s and according to some information his son Michal stands behind it till this time, is in bankruptcy. Hi s commission agent Jiří Shrbený confirmed it to the daily Ekonom. The enterprise from Český Krumlov advertised bankrupt proceeding itself. “We advertised it on the 11th of April. They condemned us unjustly to pay for delivery of goods seven million crowns and now it is with interests, lawyers, legal costs almost ten millions”, Jiří Shrbený asserted.
