ÚOHS considers opening proceeding owing to interruption of milk supply
The Antimonopoly Office considers whether it will start an administrative procedure with inland milk suppliers who decided to reduce supplies to dairy works. By decreasing supplies by ten percents they wanted to support German farmers in a protest against low buy-out prices. However, according to the Office for Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) they could perpetrate carted agreement. Kristián Chalupa, a spokesman of ÚOHS said to ČTK today that the Office will decide on a possible opening of the proceeding till about two weeks. Czech farmers decreased supplies last Friday, according to estimations by about 500 000 liters.
Inquiry: Czechs are still substandard eaters of bio-foods in EU
The Czechs in comparison with other EU states are still below in average in eating bio-foods whereas they buy mainly milk products, fruit, vegetable, fruit beverages, meat, poultry and eggs with the mark BIO. It results from an investigation of The Nielsen Company. Nevertheless, Czech’s costs for bio-products according to experts increase fast despite their higher price. “In the CR general knowledge of BIO products is relatively high but at least sometimes only less than third of Czech households buy them. In all-European comparison the CR is meanwhile at the level of countries with average consummation of BIO products”.

The Czechs sort out more and more plastics, glass, paper and metals year after year. Last year they reached other record when they approached, according to actual data, limits of fifty kilogram per capita. According to the company EKO-KOM which has a concession for organization of collection, sorting out and recycling of wastes also a number of people sorting demonstrably its domestic rubbish increases. “Already 98 percents of inhabitants has a possibility to sort out the wastes and 70 percents really participates in the sorting”, Šárka Nováková, a spokeswoman of EKO-KOM said. In average everyone has a distance about 130 meters to coloured containers.
EU exports more pig meat
Higher demand for pig meat from side of third countries enabled to EU-27 to increased exports of this commodity. (ZMP)-EU-27 exported significantly more pig meat in third countries in the first quarter of this year. From January to March 2008 EU member states sold 542 000 tons of pig meat outside the Community. In comparison with the same time period of the foregoing year it meant increase by 112 000 tons. Especially deliveries of pig meat expound in Russia.
