CSO expects good harvest this year

On base of first this year´s estimations to the 20th of June 2008 the Czech Statistic Office expects a harvest of basic cereals in total height of 6 879 thous. tons and a harvest of rape in height of 1 111 thous. tons. In comparison with last year´s harvest in basic cereals it is dealt with an accrual of estimated crop by 505 thous. tons (by 7,9 %), in rape by 79 thous. tons (by 7,6 %). The expected good harvest of basic cereals is connected this year exclusively with a presupposed higher hectare yield – 4,79 t/ha (compared to last year an increase by 9,4 %).

Prices of wood fell by third

A town filial company Lesy města Český Krumlov (Forest of the town Český Krumlov) has managed to liquidate consequences of March windstorm Emma. According to a director Bedřich Navrátil roughly 1300 cubic meters of wood fall prey to wind calamity. “In total we made about 2  274 cubic meters of random harvest. It was not dealt with only windfalls from Emma but also with those which come into being during the whole year owing to stronger gusts of wind, lightnings, heavy snow and frosting. Further we harvested dry trees originated from wood engravers activity, or which were attacked by fungus “Václavka”, emissions or other harmful agents.

Schools are convincing themselves that bio-foods are not so inaccessible

While representatives can already taste bio-foods in their cafeteria, pupils still wait for healthy changes. The obstruction in the way are not only finances, it is rather lack of information and non-existing network of bio-suppliers. It was found by means of a project Bio in schools headed by the Ministry of Environment and the EU. Besides the Ministry of Environment also the Ministry of Agriculture endeavours to get healthy foods in a school menu. Both resorts supports various projects which should spread education and to introduce bio-foods in school canteens. Colleagues from the Ministry of Education don´t protect to it, however, meanwhile they do nothing concrete for it.

German Müller wants to buy also rest of Mlékárna Pragolaktos

A German food group Müller wants to buy a second half of Mlékárna Pragolaktos. Now it owns almost 51 percents, it was buy the rest from a company ALIMPEX FOOD. ČTK found it out from on internet sites of the Office for Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) where the firm sent an application for permission of the fusion. A dairy work Mlékárna Pragolaktos with a basic capital 120 million crowns, which earned a billion year before the last, was in almost twenty one million loss. At the end of year 2006 it had over hundred employees. The company Müller is the top European producer of milk products.
