For the first time EU will get on table proposal for introduction of fruit for free in schools

Today for the first time Ministries of Agriculture of the European Union will get „on table“ the newest proposal of the European Commission for free provision of fruit and vegetable in schools. Similar plans for a fight with children obesity have been unsuccessful till this time; a result of the present negotiation cannot be rate for the present. The Commission wants to contribute annually as much as 90 million euro (more than two billion crowns). However, the whole program should function similarly as endowment of milk in schools where the Union pays a part of costs and the rest is covered by members states from their own treasury.

InBev will buy competitor Anheuser-Busch. The biggest brewery in the world will come into being

Belgian brewery InBev which own for example marks Staropramen, Stella Artois and Beck has agreed on a takeover of American rival Anheuser-Bush. Finally, Belgians increased an offer for one stock and will pay for the business 52 billion dollars in total (766 billion dollars). Originally InBev offered for one stock 65 dollars to the producer Budvar but the sum seemed to be too low to American company. A newly originated group will name Anheuser-Bush InBev. “We are very pleased that announcement of this historical transaction connects two exquisite firms sharing a rich history of brewing industry tradition”.

Thousands of turkey died of drug overdose

More than 4300 turkeys died in an agricultural enterprise in Brniště in the region Česká Lípa at the last week end. Already on the 20th of June workers of a fattening station recorded an increaseddeath and therefore they informed immediately the Regional Veterinary Administration in Liberec. Still the same day veterinarians from the regional administration came to examine a state in the fattening station and in the evening they alarmed also the main veterinary administration in Prague. They were afraid of bird flu. Results of the investigation which came in Saturday morning fortunately disproved the fears.

School dining-room prepared Znojmo cucumbers only two days

Last week it looks like a bombastic renewal of past Znojmo´s tradition. A cooperative Znojemská okurka headed by Zbyšek Dřevojan started demonstratively production of famous Znojmo canned cucumbers in a dining-hall of one of the local schools. It lasted only two days. The project was disliked by hygienic officers. A manager of the cooperative dissimulates where and whether the production will continue. “We did not allow the school to produce cucumbers. We issued disapproving standpoint. The school dining-hall is not adapted for the production. It would require different conditions”, Jana Tušerová from a branch of Regional Hygienic Station in Znojmo said.
