No case of BSE in ČR this year

No new case since December 2007, no mad cow has been neither recorded nor diagnosed on base of examination in the ČR. It is an evaluation of BSE occurrence development provided by a press agent of the State Veterinary Administration (SVS) Josef Duben. Since beginning of this year according his data 79 509 brains of slaughtered and died cattle should be examined; no of them was ill. From the beginning of 2001, when the bovine spongiformencephalopathy (BSE) is tested and monitored in the Czech Republic, 1 286 166 pieces of cattle have been examined and of them 28 ill have been found out.

Bursík: Tracks will not go on Friday afternoon

“I absolutely insist on an agreement which I closed after eighteen-month negotiations with the Minister of Transport Aleš Řebíček on year-round limitation of trucks traffic. Nor requirements of transporters, moreover, supported by inordinate assertions on how many trucks is enough to block transport in the city, do not change anything on it. Gandalovič: State will subsidize milk in schools probably for one year

The Czech state will subsidize milk in primary schools probably for one year and then the whole program will end. The Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič said it to journalists today in Brussels and added that he had put forward the relevant proposal to the government. However, according to Gandalovič there still is a theoretical possibility that the program milk would end already now. The government would have to decide on it in conflict with the Minister´s proposal. Endowment of milk has been criticized above all by the Ministry of Education for a long time. “Instead of milk more fruit and vegetables should appear in schools”, Kateřina Böhmová, a spokeswoman of the Ministry of Education said to ČTK on Monday.

Mycologist from Choceň says: the weather is ideal for mushrooms

While last year this time mushroom-picker left forests barehanded in the region Pardubice, now they will get full baskets. The weather is ideal for mushrooms; it rains often and it is not hot. Mycologists Libor Tměj said it to ČTK today. He lead a consultations for mushroom-pickers in Choceň in the region Ústí nad Orlicí. “It is one of the best summer periods; mushrooms started to grow. It is worth and it will be even better”, the expert said. Mushrooms can be found in all kinds of forests and on meadows. In forests mushroom-pickers will come across boletus mushrooms, Boletus reticulatus, Boletus edulis and Leccinums. About twenty kinds of edible russulas grows as well as fuzz-balls and many varieties of agarics.
