Ecological agriculture: beneficial for you, for us, for Europe

The European Commission started a new promotion campaign to support ecological products and agricultural. The campaign focuses on promotion of ecological foods especially among young people and children and on increase of consumers´ reliance upon these foods. The promotion campaign under a slogan: „Ecological agriculture. Regardful of nature, beneficial for you“ wants to inform on a signi ficance and contribution of economically regardful economy and production of ecological foods.

Farmers: There is enough of cereals; foods should not raise in price

Harvest of cereals and rape in the Czech Republic will be richer this year than the last one. Jindřich Šejdra, a chief of agrarians preceded that bread, flour and other basic foods produced from cereals should not raise in price. However, harvest continues slowly which could decrease quality of cereals. This year there is not a danger of a lack which in 2007 led to increase in price of bread and other basic cereal foods on shelves of retails. „I am deeply convinced that prices of basic foods on shelves of retails will not change“, a vice-president of the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic Jindřich Šnejdra said. Farmers should garvest 5,05 million hectares of cereals this year, so by 0,5 million hectares more than last year.

157 million of Czech milk bio-products was sold last year

According to a yearbook Czech market with bio-foods 2008 a category Milk and milk products in 2007 represented the second biggest category of bio-foods. In 2007 the category had 21 % share in Czech market; its share increased over year by 6 %. In the total this category had a volume 270 mil. CZK which is an increase in comparison with 2006 by 136,8 %. Last year milk products from Czech dairy works and Czech eco-farmers made 58 % (157 mil. CZK) from the total turnover of this category. It shows that bio-milk and yogurts are for most of Czech bio-food consumers an entrance gateway in the bio-food world.

New service: Ask government how much foods cost

A special text messages offer Italians a review of food prices in various parts of the country. Growing food prices are interest target of still more and more people all around the world. In Italy it even graded in such a way that the government decided to introduce a service informing people on prices on various places. However, it is not all. The system SMS messages and calling to every Italian enable to complain that foods in his/her surrounding cost more than they feel tolerable. The state not only monitors the prices of foods but at the same time through sending SMSs advices people where they can buy the same thing for a better price and vice versa.
