Cancellation of program School milk means also cancellation of subsidies from EU

The Bohemian-Moravian Dairy Union and the Food Chamber of CR introduced their attitude towards a proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture to cancel endowment of the program School milk today. The program supporting milk consumption by children in scholls is financed also by the European Union and sums from the EU still increase. In case of its cancellation there is a danger in the Czech Republic that it will lose the EU endowment in height of c.20 mil. CZK Programs of this kind are common in absolute majority of countries in the European Union, for example children in Finland and Romania got milk completely for free.

Dairy work decreases production

Ten thousand liters daily. This is exactly the amount of milk which farmers will stop delivering in a dairy work in Bohušovice in the region Litoměřice already in several days. A reason is reputedly a falling interest in milk products. According to an assurance by Miloslav Potůček, a chairman of Dairy Sales Cooperative Litoměřice, decrease of deliveries would not existentially endanger farmers. Even a number of raised pieces of dairy cows in the region Litoměřice should not be decreased. “For us decrease in deliveries in the dairy work in Bohušovice means a displacement of this amount to other processor. It is not a problem of demand for our milk”, Miloslav Potůček confirmed.
