Agrarian Chamber: Milk price are low; reduction of production will be considered

The Antimonopoly Office warns farmers that an agreement on reduction of milk production can be illegal. Management of the Agrarian Chamber (ACH) considers a regulation of milk production due to low purchase prices. According to farmers the current prices don´t cover production costs, as Jan Veleba, the president of ACH, said. The biggest Czech dairy works Madeta decreased purchase milk price under a limit of eight crowns at the beginning of August. Other milk producers in the Czech Republic followed it. The Antimonopoly Office is going to carefully monitor the Agrarian Chamber, Robert Neruda from the Office for Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) said.

Vaccination against catarrhal sheep fever will start from 20.8.

As the State Veterinary Administration of CR (SVS ČR) has already informed breeders, regional veterinary administration will start to organize an emergency vaccination against catarrhal sheep fever on the 20.8. This action will start on base of extraordinary veterinary measures which the State Veterinary Administration issues. A full version of these measures is disposable on an office board of the Ministry of Agriculture of CR and on web sites of SVS ČR - .

Bio-vegetable and bio-fruit are not better

According to Danish scientists, organically grown fruit and vegetable neither contain more mineral substances nor microelements. Bio-fruit and bio-vegetable are neither richer of mineral substances and nor microelements are better used in human organism. These conclusions results from two-year research study published now in a special paper „Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture“. Danish scientists grew carrot, cabbage, pea, apples and potatoes on neighbouring pieces of land with a comparable soil quality for two years.

Bee keepers: This year honey will be as saffron

Rainy weather as well as bee diseases are blame for a small amount of honey. Bee-keepers from the region Přerov are disappointed with this year´s honey harvest. According to them they produced the least of honey in several last year. Rainy weather as well as bee diseases are blame for death of several tens of bee colonies. A decrease in spring was caused by bee larvae plague and also parasitic disease Varroasis. A chairman of regional committee of the Czech Bee-keepers Union in Přerov František Hošek reported that there will be definitely less honey against the last year. In respect of light rape honeys, the situation was good there, however, with lime and forest honey it is worse.
