Effects of calabrese on people´s health are almost miraculous
Hardly anybody knows that calabrese (broccoli) is cabbage in fact. Eventually sprout, oil rape, cauliflower and other known vegetable, collectively called stalk vegetable. That all are from a botanical point of view one kind of Brassica oleacea and its varieties. Calabrese or B. Oleracea var. Italica was cultivated, as the name prompts, in Mediterranean, probably already in before-antique Cyprus. Already old Romans knew it and maybe since the time there is a tradition that calabrese is health beneficial.
Arable land, number of cattle and pigs decreased; people are more particular about ecology
Managed agricultural land in recent two year in the Czech Republic decreased; also cattle and pigs are raised less. On the contrary, number of sheep, horse and poultry breedings increased. There is much rape and oat on fields, rye and wheat is grown less. Also number of agricultural subjects decreased and people working in agriculture get older gradually. Organically managed agricultural land increased by 18 percents. It results from a structural investigation in agriculture over 2007 which was published by the Czech Statistic Office at the agrisaloon Země živitelka today.
Poles want oil waste from the Czech Republic. For power stations
Thousands tons of old oil substances from oil lagoons in Ostrava will very probably end in neighbouring Poland. Lagoons belong to one of the biggest ecological burden in the Czech Republic and in Ostrava a project just starts which could fix this problem. A principal of lagoon liquidation, for which the state will pay four billion crowns, is a gradual mining of oil substances and their use for a special fuel mixture production. A Polish firm E-Carbo wants to supply it in power stations in Poland. „Preparation of contracts with fuel customers culminates. We negotiate with a power station Dětmarovice, Energetika Třinec and also Polish customer is highly interested in“, a manager of the project, Alena Orlíková from an association Čistá Ostrava, confirmed.
Bio-bread is already in arsenal of the biggest bakery
Bio-mania continues further. Food with this label stops cringing on non-attractive shelves of supermarkets; they become among others an object of competitors´ fight of the biggest producers. One of the first are two biggest Czech baking groups – United Bakeries of brothers Paříks and Penam from holding Agrofert. At first the bio-bread was introduced by the group United Bakeries. “We supply bio-varieties of common products. We offer them as an alternative to conventional bread and pastry which consumers already know well. For example BIO bread Šumava or BIO Slunečnicový chléb (Sunflower bread), Petr Mlíka, a marketing director of the company United Bakeries, confirmed.
