CSO: Number of ecological farmers increased in two years by more than 300 in the Czech Republic

Since 2005 a number of organically farming agricultural enterprises has increased by more than 300 in the Czech Republic. It results from data of the Czech Statistic Office (CSO). Ecological farmers managed on 7,5 percents of agricultural land last year and they share in the total number of agricultural enterprises with three percents. A number of organic farms increases in contrast to common farms. A prevailing crop-plant on organically farmed land is permanent grass growths. They were maintained on almost 90 percents of land in 2007 and served mainly for grazing breeding of cattle, especially of goats and sheep.

Amendment of act on environment influences assessment diverted action against CR

At its meeting on Wednesday the 10th of September the government passed a draft of amendment of act on Environment Influences Assessment (EIA) submitted by the Ministry of Environment. The novel was essential as a reaction to proceedings on breach of Agreement on foundation of European Community (EC) headed by the European Commission against the Czech Republic already from 2006. “If the Czech Republic does not make the amendment, the European Commission will take action in the European Law Court”, a director of legislative department of the Ministry of Environment Libor Dvořák says. At present Czech legal regulation are not agreeable with a relevant EC direction because it does not guarantee in needed extent accession to wardship for all subjects mentioned in the direction.

Czech presidency in EU is coming: preparations of department enter in final stage

A delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture led by the first deputy minister Ivo Hlaváč negotiates with partners from EU institutions fundamental parameters of Czech presidency in Brussels this week. The set of negotiations includes a meeting with the cabinet of Commissioner Mariann Fischer-Boel and Commissioner Androuly Vassiliou, the management of DG AGRI, DG MARE, the chairman of Agriculture Committee of the European Parliament Nielem Parishem, the chairman of Environment Committee of EP Miroslav Ouzký, and others. A calendar of actions is being adjusted; topics are being cleared – which will be negotiated just within CZ PRES, and, of course, as well as areas to which our presidency wants to address in preference.

Training for travel movement in protected areas

A final workshop of educational program “Marketing of travel movement in areas included in Agenda 21 and Natura 2000” took place on the 9th of September at the Czech University of Life Science. This program is focused on increase in qualification of workers in travel movement and is financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic in frame of project “Training for officers of territorial public service and employees in travel movement in protected landscape areas”. Before the common final workshop a set of training in Trutnov, brno, Hanušovice, Hluboká nad Vltavou, Klatovy and Kladská took place. These trainings dealt with aspects of travel movement in national parks, CHKO (Protected Landscape Areas) and the project “Natura 2000”. Also a potential of travel movement from a viewpoint of “Agenda 21”, marketing of products of travel movement in areas of special protection and also creation of projects of travel movement with possibilities of processing of own project intention were discussed.
