Agricultural areas decrease in the world

Growing areas of agricultural products decreases in the world. Therefore the usable areas have to be used as much effectively as possible. The food demand increases globally. Annually the world population increases by 80 million people. However, growing areas still decrease – among others in consequence of an erosion or building-over of land. Creation of new usable areas above all in threshold countries requires high investments. Therefore it is evident at first to increase yields from existing agriculturally used areas. Better seeds, fertilizers and pesticides as well as the efficient mechanization are basic pillars of high yields.

The members approved novel of waste and chemical law

The Chamber of Deputies approved definitely two amendments of acts on environment yesterday – a parliamentary novel of law on wastes and a novel of law on chemical substances which implement requirements of European regulation on s system REACH in Czech legislative. “I very welcome the both decisions of the members”, the Minister of Environment Martin Bursík stated. The parliamentary novel of law on wastes significantly tightens a regime in case of metal waste collection and purchase. An aim of the novel in which the Ministry of Environment shared is to react to recently very frequented cases of thefts of various metal objects.

Gandalovič: Priority of Czech presidency is removal of barriers

At a meeting of informal council of ministers of Agriculture in French Annecy on Tuesday the minister Petr Gandalovič invited an initiative of French presidency to open a discussion about the future of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2013. According to his words the Czech Republic is prepared during coming Czech presidency to continue in this discussion not only in a context of planned revision of European budget. Petr Gandalovič acquainted ministers of other member states with for the first time with the main topics of discussion of Czech presidency in the EU in the area of agricultural policy

The second year of program “Handily live healthily” starts

Under the sponsorship of the Food Chamber of the CR the second year of an internet course “Handily live healthily” - www.hravezijzdrave.cz will start on the 6th of October. An aim of the program is to explain children in interactive and enjoyable way the importance and basic rules of healthy style of life. The program is focused on pupils of fifth classes at primary schools from all the Czech Republic who will compete for attractive prizes supporting an active approach to the life. “As physician I know that right boarding habits already in the earliest childhood influences the future health of adult people” Zuzana Roithová, a member of European Parliament asserts.
