The Czech Republic belong to potato tops in frame of EU

The 18th potato growing days which take place just these days in Havlíčkův Brod remind of centenary tradition of Czech potato growing; will arrange exchange of special experience at a workshop “Trade with potatoes”, and culminate this year´s International Potato Year advertised by the Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) of UNO. The Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič also handed over prizes to winners of student competition for Potato flower of Vysočina.

Jams and marmalade decelerate spread of cancer

Polysaccharide pectin – a pulp which after cooking of fruit will cause gelatinization of jam - can have a beneficial effect in body in fight with cancer. It ties to a certain proteins which plays a significant role in development and spread of the disease. Pectin ties to galectin 3 and decreases its force. This protein plays a key role in progress of all stages of cancer. “Most statements about cancer-protection of foods are based on population studies. In this study we tested molecular mechanisms and we proved that they are realizable”, a professor Vic Morris from British Institute for Food Research in Norwich states.

Czech forests belong among the most ill in the whole Europe

The Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Bulgaria. Three countries of the European Union with infamous primacy. Local forests belong among the most ill growths in the European Union. It results from an actual release on state of environment which the government discussed on Wednesday. The health state of forests growths is characterized above all by so called defoliation rate. The less a tree has leaves, respectively needles, the more it is ill. “From the international point of view the highest defoliation rate was found out in the Czech Republic, Luxembourg and Bulgaria in 2006 where more than 40 percents of trees were damaged”. That is stated in a report which was elaborated by Czech Information Agency of Environment CENIA in cooperation with the Research Institute of Forest Management and other institutions.

Meanwhile laboratory analyses did not revealed any melamin

In reaction to a cause with milk products contaminated with melamin which appeared in China already in September, the State Agricultural and Food Inspection within its checks started to concentrate more on Chinese foods containing a milk component. Since that time inspectors have investigated whether such foods are not in common shops and at the same time they checks Asian markets and shops which specialize in foods from Asia. Already 350 checks have been already made till this time.
