Danish ministress: I know Bursík, he will put through „new Kjótó“
Connie Hedegaard, Danish ministress for climatic changes faces probably the most difficult task of her life. Next year in December at a summit in Copenhagen the world should come to an agreement on a successor of Kjótó protoc ol (its validity will fall in 2012) and also on a new international convention which should reduce emission of greenhouse gases. According to the International Panel for Climatic Changes (IPCC) of UNO there is a threat of irreversible changes in case of increase in average temperature by two centigrade degrees against a period before an industrial revolution. EU countries and representatives of the most developed economies G8 agreed that if we want to prevent it, it is necessary to reduce emissions by half by 2050.
Corn and bio-fuel mania
Corn belongs among the most spread agricultural crops in the world. It is used in food industry; is it consumed as a feed, and in recent years still bigger and bigger share of production is processed for bio-fuels. So, no wonder that with growing price also critique still sharper and sharper falls on heads of supporters of growing corn for needs of ethanol industry. A strong agricultural and ecological lobby in the world contributed to unleashing of bio-fuel madness which will be very hard only to be stopped. Let´s go to see now in which way it is possible to profit in the whole business.
Duties on import of cereals renewed
The European Union will renew duties on import of cereals. Euro-commissioner for agriculture Mariann Fisher-Boel announced it. The Agrarian Chamber welcomes the EU measure. Brussels react by this strep to decrease in prices on a cereal market. Levying of import duty for cereals was stopped by the EU from January owing to high prices on the world market. In June it decided to prolong this measure for period of one year, however, with a condition that it can renew the duty any time. The president of Agrarian Chamber Jan Veleba believes that rise in prices which will be obviously invoked by duty renewal will help to activate Czech cereal market. It stagnates at present and prices are significantly lower that year ago.
