State of atmosphere in Ostrava and Karviná regions worsened

Quality of atmosphere in the regions Ostrava and Karviná worsened these days. Therefore elderly people and small children should reduce staying in outdoor environment. A concentration of airborne dust exceeded a determined limit by 100 percents. A daily limit for the airborne dust is 50 micrograms per cubic meter. The worst situation is presently at stations Ostrava-Přívoz, Ostrava-Fifejdy and also in Bohumín and in Věřňovice in Karviná region. According to a spokeswoman Barbara Odstrčilíková people should reduce emission of harmful substances in the air.

Global warming subverts ice wine

Later coming of frosts endanger production of viticultural specialty. Grapes on vineyards rot or they are harvested by birds instead of vine-growers. Honey taste and rich golden-yellow colour of ice wine from Moravian cellars enchanted participants of a prestigious dinner of French sommeliers in Paris. Because of global warming, bottles with this liquid specialty, which belongs abroad to the most appreciated from Czech vineyards, can become scare commodities.

Brussels considers mining of raw materials in protected areas

In an effort to reduce growing dependency of the European Union on import of rare mineral and metals from third countries, the European Commission announced yesterday that also areas protected presently by the European network of reservation Natura 2000 could be opened. “It is dealt with a start of a strategy in area of natural resources”, a commissioner for business and industry Günter Verheugen said to journalists on the occasion of introduction of a new “integrated strategy” for the raw-materials area.

A supplement 1 of that notes that a density of carps in a pool can be in case of water warm to 5°C as many as 1200 kg of fish per thousands liters of water, in water with temperature 5 – 10°C as many as 1000 kg of fish, and in 10 – 15°C maximally 700 kg of fish per thousands liters of water.
