Poultry breeders keep less number of animals than last year

Numbers of poultry decreased by thirty seven percents in last four years in the region Olomouc. While at the end of third quarter of 2004 breeders from the region had 627 690 pieces of poultry, at this year´s end it was 396 391 pieces. In the whole Czech Republic in the same period numbers of animals increased by 2,22 million to 25,927 million pieces. It results from data of the Czech Statistic Office. According to experts Central-Moravian breeders reduced the state among other owing to low buy-out prices of eggs and poultry meat. “On the contrary, input prices, for example prices of feeding mixtures, increased.

Hundreds of tons of fallen apples come to naught. Nobody wants them

People prefer to buy imported apples in a supermarkets to gather them free by a roadside. While shelves in shops flow with apples of every shapes and tastes, apple trees by the roadsides are behung as Christmas trees. Their apples would fit to cider, cider-brandy or for feeding of game, however, nobody is interested in them. It is because of very low buy-out prices and also prejudices of people which suppose apples from road as something unhealthy.

Agrarian Chamber to reduction of impacts of crisis

Next week the president of Agrarian Chamber Jan Veleba will open negotiations with the Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič on measures which should minimize impacts of the current financial crisis on farmers. He announced it at celebrations of the 15th anniversary of foundation of the Agrarian Chamber in Brno yesterday. As the Minister of Finances Miroslav Kalousek says, we don´t have to loose time because what is coming is not definitely a normal time
