Farmers will not earn much this year

Despite an income from operation in the agrarian sector will stay positive, farmers will earn much less than last year. Last year the profit reached record thirteen billion crowns. That the income will not end in red number it is first of all thanks to direct payments, subsidies and supports which share in the total incomes of agricultural enterprises roughly by one quarter. So, it is not due to a higher production or its realization. It was reported by a chairman of the Agricultural Union of the Czech Republic Miroslav Jirovský.

European technological platform for research in organic farming came into being

Establishment of a technological platform for research in area of organic farming was officially announced at the Permanent representation of the CR at the EU today by Timothy Hall from the General management of EC for research, Jean- François Hulot from the General management for agriculture and rural development, representatives of the European Parliament, European agricultural associations and research institutions. Jiří Urban, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture CR expressed a support of the platform. The platform will concentrate on solution of actual topics as a food quality, rural development and protection of the environment.

Farmers will not pay higher tax for land

A draft of amendment of act on real estate tax which release arable land, hop gardens, vineyards, orchards and permanent grass growths from increase in tax at all territory of a municipality succeeded in a second reading in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the CR today. A possible increase in tax by a local coefficient in height of 2 to 2,5 multiple of the land price will not have respect to the mentioned real estates from the 1st of January 2009.

Land owners are members of European Landowners Organization

A general meeting of ELO (European Union of Land Owners – the European Landowners Organization) adopted the Union of Land Owners of the CR (SVP – Svaz vlastníků půdy) as its full member in Tuesday on the 2nd of December in Prague. František Janda, a chairman of SVP informed on it. According to his words the Union is going to strengthen a position of land owners in the CR whereas SVP should stay a partner with equal rights of the state administrative and executive.
