MZe does maximum for support of dairy sector
The Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) continues in intensive negotiations on solution of critical situation in the dairy sector. The first deputy minister of agriculture Ivo Hlaváč discussed with the president of the Food Chamber of the CR Miroslav Toman agricultural priorities and a program of Czech presidency, including the actual situation in dairy sector today. Already yesterday afternoon, the Minister Gandalovič met representatives of trade chains. As a chirman of negotiation of the Council of Ministers next week in Brussels, the minister is prepared to give the topic the appropriate space.
Economic recession decreased even demand for cereals
An economic recession in the United States affected also demand for food, feds for farm animals as well as cereals for bio-fuel production. The Ministry of Agriculture of the USA announced on Monday that farmers owing to decreasing prices of cereals sowed by nine percents less of perennial wheat against the last year. Reserves of wheat, corn, soya and other crop-plants are much higher than it was supposed. It was caused by decrease in export and a lower production of pig and poultry meat. Producers of ethyl alcohol for bio-fuels will use for production of alternative fuels 3,6 billion bushels. Two months ago they presented by 400 million more.
Gandalovič: Europe will work together in interest of sustainable development
The Agenda of the 17th meeting of the UNO Commission for sustainable development, which will take place during Czech presidency in New York in May and a chairman of which will be the Ministress of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Netherlandish Kingdom Mrs. Gerritje Verburg, represented the main contents of the Monday negotiation of the Minister Gandalovič with his departmental colleague from the Netherland. There was time also for actual question as the situation on milk market, or the financial crisis working cross markets.
Council of Ministers EU will discuss also milk problems
On the 19th of January in Brussels, the Ministers of Agriculture of the EU will negotiate at their Council among others also problems of European milk market. Some member states are going to open the discussion. A deputy minister of agriculture Ivo Hlaváč told it at Moday´s press conference. According to him, the discussion should be on conditions of intervention purchases or possibilities of subventions for export. There is a surplus on European milk market caused by low buy-out prices which brings living problems to farmers in some member countries.
